Below please find Frequently Asked Questions:

What type of anestetic is used during surgery?
We use general anaestetic.

What type of antibiotics are administered after surgery?
Usually the patients get Keflex and Clexane after the surgery.

Do patients leave the facility with a supply of antibiotics to prevent further infection?
Yes the patients get medicaments in the day of the departure (e.g. Keflex)

If the operation goes wrong, does the clinic take responsibility for
organising any corrective surgery required?
Please remember that before (during the consultation) and after the surgery (at the day of your departure) our doctors will provide you with all information needed and will tell you all about behaviour after the surgery. You will get an "instruction" how to behave. So, you will know what ailments are temporary and normal and what ailments should be disturbing. If you have any serious discomfort after the surgery and you feel a need of coming back to our clinic, then you have the right to an after-check-up visit in our clinic - the visit is free of charge.  Furthermore the clinic refunds all costs connected with travel, accommodation and medical treatment needed, providing that the problems were caused by the clinic To explain it better I will give  an example:  Before you leave the clinic you are provided with detailed description of  the treatment as well as with the post-operation instructions. If you stick to those instructions and problems occur then the clinic refunds the costs. In other cases (e.g you came to the disco short time after the surgery) the costs have to be covered by you. It is very important to follow the post-operation instructions in 100%! Moreover, our staff will stay in touch with you (as you wish: e-mail or phone) for a few weeks after the surgery.
So, we do not leave our patients that have came home alone. We are in contact with them.

Are they dissolvable stitches or glue, as i am not sure how my GP will feel about removing any stitches?
We use Johnson&Johnson stiches. Internal stiches are dissolvable, external have to be removed after some time, for example by your GP. Everything is explaind to you before you live the clinic and additionally you are provided with very detaild post-operation instructions in English.

What insurance do they give if the surgery is not a success?
Of course the clinic and the doctors have very wide and expansive insurance, but I think you are asking about guarantee rather than insurance. If surgery fails, which is very unlikely, the clinic covers all costs connected with returning to the clinic and correcting surgery - all this providing that the problem was caused by the clinic (for example if you do not follow post-op instruction then of course clinic do not take the reposnsibility for it).

How are you expected to be paid? If possible I do not want to take cash with me. Would prefer a transfer from bank account or other method of payment.
First, to do a preliminary surgery booking you have to pay 250euro deposit in advance to clinic bank account (wire transfer). Then there are two options:
a) a few days before your arrival to the clinic you do another wire transfer to the clinic account and pay the rest (surgery price, blood count and accommodation minus 250 euro payed in advance). The transfer must be made early enough to come to the clinic account before the surgery!
b) second option is to pay with a credit card in the clinic (for example
VISA card).

How can I pay in the clinic?
There are three options: cash, plastic card/credit card or partly in cash and partly by plastic/credit card.

What is the 250 euro deposit?
After you contact MediConsult you have the right to do preliminary booking for your surgery. If you are sure about the surgery you have to do final booking by paying 250 euro in advance to the clinic bank account or via Western Union.

Would you advice me to take travel insurance?
Yes, we always recommend taking travel insurance. But remember that a usual travel insurance will help you if you for example break the leg on the airport but probably do not cover problems after the surgery taken abroad - you have to consult it with your insurance broker.

Can I have a tummy tuck and breast lift at the same time?
In most cases it is impossible two combine tummy tuck with breast lift as those two surgeries are serious ones. However sometimes it is  possible to combine them if breast lift is going to be made with implants.

Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, providing we have free places. If  the person stays with you in the clinic then the price for full board and accommodation
is 70 euro per day.

What scarring do you have?
In case of tummy tuck the scar / cut goes under pubic bone.

How much time will I need to take off work?
If you are office worker we recommend taking a rest for about a week after the surgery, in case of labourer for 2 weeks. Please note that recovery, ailments and mood after the surgery are different for each patient. It all depends on individual predispositions of a patient.

What about smoking - I am a smoker?

Smoking is not a contraindication to take the surgery. As for the smoking, naturally like all doctors our surgeons also do not support smoking. But from our experince we know that it is very hard for patients to quit the addiction just before the surgery. Therefore we recommend limitation of smoking two weeks before the surgery at least. You should limit smoking as much as it is possible for you.

What is the difference between liposuction and tummy tuck?
Tummy tuck and liposuction are two different surgeries. Liposuction is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, thighs, knees, hips, buttocks, arms, chin, neck and cheeks. The best candidates for liposuction are normal-weight people with elastic, firm skin who have pockets of excess fat in certain areas. Age is not a major consideration. However, older patients may have diminished skin elasticity and may not achieve the same results as a younger patient with tighter skin. On the other hand the best candidates for abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) are those who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that won't respond to diet or exercise. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in case of older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved.
To sum up: tummy tuck is a surgery during which surgeon cuts excess of skin - skin fold. Liposuction is a procedure during which surgeon removes fat tissue. So those are two different surgeries. But sometimes we can combine tummy tuck with liposuction in case when there is not much tummy tuck or liposuction to do.
